Rap of the Week | May 27 - June 2
The playlist features new music from Wegz, Lil Baba, Mousv and Tagne.

This installment of our Rap of the Week playlist is packed with a cluster of fresh releases from some of the biggest rappers across the Middle East and North Africa region. The playlist features Wegz, Lil Baba, Mousv, Flomaine and Tagne.
Rising Libyan rapper WAVE returns with ‘Mozawlat’, a blunt commentary on the current state of the rap scene. She delivers aggressive bars with a strong sense of self-assurance and dismissiveness towards perceived rivals, criticising the lack of intelligence and originality in others’ music, suggesting their efforts are mere ‘strategies’ built on a ‘la la land’ that isn’t promising. She also tackles the notion of gender roles within the region’s scene, dismissing the idea that rap isn’t for women.
Next up, two Moroccan forces, Flomaine and Vargas, teamed up on ‘Gluag’, an afrobeat-tinged playful tune, while Egyptian producer-turned-rapper Lil Baba comes in with ‘Kol El Ana 3aizo’ that feels like a sleep paralysis set to a beat.
Last but not least, Wegz returns with ‘Khesert El Sha3b’, a bold statement on which he asserts his position as the champ of the Egyptian rap scene with utter confidence. The playlist also features new music from BLTNM’s Fawzi and Al Nather, along with Molotof, Tagne, Smallx, Lquinze and Mvndila.
