Soundscapes Zanzi ‘24 Team Up with Sole DXB for the ‘Sole Sound System
Taking place June 15th -19th, Soundscapes Zanzibar will be the first electronic festival to feature a sound system of this kind.
Bahrain-born festival Soundscapes has teamed up with Sole DXB to introduce its custom-built sound system at the Soundscapes Zanzi festival, scheduled to take place in Bwejuu Beach in Zanzibar, from June 15th to June 19th. The 28-cabinet stack, hand-built in Kingston, Jamaica is to be featured at Soundscapes’ beachfront and jungle-themed stage, the Oasis, this marks the first time an electronic festival features a sound system of this kind.
Sole DXB has commissioned the renowned Jamaican sound system builder, Ronald ‘Uncle Ronnie’ Jarrett of 8 Mile Sound, to design and build a system, often dubbed the national instrument of Jamaica. Born on the shores of Kingston and traversing over 10,000 miles, the Sole Sound System will mark a momentous occasion for music enthusiasts attending the festival. This sound has never been featured at an electronic music festival before and is positioned to break through traditional setups—with both the artist and crowd facing the speaker stack.
“This partnership is more than just a cultural exchange; it’s about co-creating experiences that resonate on a global scale, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible sonically,’ Hameed, Co-Founder of Soundscapes tells SceneNoise.
"Last year, we had the good fortune to travel to Zanzibar and experience what the Soundscapes family has been building. We found a team of like-minded people that approach their work with a genuine love for music and a drive for excellence in sound”, said Rajat Malhotra, Partner at Sole, “our eternal gratitude to Uncle Ronnie, the architect of the system, for blessing us with his knowledge and a little piece of his island…from Jamaica to the world."
