AD: How PwC ETIC Made the Summer Workday Sound Fun

Summers in Cairo have a way of slowing work down. Vacation requests overlap and schedules get a little harder to coordinate. This season, though, PwC Egypt Technology and Innovation Centre (ETIC) seemed to have cracked a new code. This is what their summer looked like.

ETIC is PwC’s Egypt technology hub, bringing together consultancy, technology, and non-tech managed services to build solutions for businesses and elevate their day-to-day operations. As the team puts it, “ETIC brings together the best of consulting with innovative technologies to build trust, solve important problems and deliver sustained solutions.” Home to more than 2,000 people, the centre runs on a mix of technology, collaboration and a distinctly people-first approach.

Add family days, summer kits and an AI hackathon to the mix, and suddenly the Cairo work summer doesn’t sound so bad. Here’s what summer looked like for ETIC’s team. Uhmm, are you guys hiring?

1. Family Day, June 25th

ETIC opened its doors to employees’ families and loved ones, inviting children, parents, siblings, friends and grandparents to experience the workplace firsthand. The day came with games, entertainment and activations designed for all ages, turning the office into something closer to a family affair.

2. Surprise Happy Hours, July 14th & August 24th

ETIC treated its teams to surprise lunches, drinks, ice cream and desserts throughout the summer, creating a few welcome breaks for everyone to connect outside the usual work routine.

3. A Little More Remote Work, July & August

ETIC’s existing hybrid model already gives employees a lot of flexibility. For summer, the company added even more remote work days, giving teams some extra flexibility during the season.

4. Summer Kits, July 14th

The seasonal care package arrived with all the essentials for making summer slightly easier, including a chaise lounge, waterproof phone cover and other summer accessories. Because apparently even corporate life can come with beach equipment.

5. Welcoming the Next Generation, July 16th

Summer also brought a new cohort of interns to ETIC. Joining teams across the organisation, the interns gained hands-on experience while contributing to ongoing projects and getting a closer look at life inside one of Egypt’s growing technology and engineering centres.

6. An AI Hackathon, August 24th

The summer programme took a decidedly tech-forward turn with an AI Hackathon, bringing employees together to collaborate on ideas and projects applying artificial intelligence to their work. At ETIC, where AI is already embedded into the way teams operate, the hackathon was another exercise in pushing ideas beyond the obvious.
