This Brand Just Put the Cairo Metro Logo on a Belt

The Cairo Metro logo has officially found itself a new mode of transportation: a leather belt.

Created by Egyptian brand Wasel, the belt is a black full-grain leather number finished with a silver-plated oxidized buckle featuring the iconic Cairo Metro logo. It takes one of the most familiar symbols of everyday Cairo, originally designed by prominent Egyptian artist and sculptor Salah Abd al-Karim, and gives it a rather unexpected new home around your waist.

But Wasel didn’t stop at the belt. The packaging might just be the real star of the show. The belt arrives in a box designed to resemble a Cairo Metro Line 3 carriage, complete with a dust bag tucked inside, before you finally get to the belt.

We do, however, have one small note for Wasel: if we’re going to recreate Cairo’s Metro, where is the Line 1 representation? We hope to see the OG get some of the respect it deserves eventually.
