Arab Designs Making Regal Appearances at the Jordanian Royal Wedding
Designers from across the region dressed the new princess and much of the star-studded guestlist.
Last Thursday saw Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein tie the knot with Saudi architect Rawja Al Saif in a stunning ceremony at Amman’s Zahran Palace. The day marked the fostering of stronger bonds between the two newlyweds’ homelands - as well as a field day for fashion fans. With a guest list boasting world leaders and global royalty, the artistry of Arab couturiers shone at the wedding of the year.
The bride herself took to the aisle in a long-sleeved Elie Saab wedding gown, featuring an asymmetrical wrap neckline and ruched bodice. The all-white dress featured floral detailing on its detachable train (six kilograms of embellishment and 550 petals’ worth to be precise), adding some drama to the elegant and understated look.

Princess Rawja’s new mother-in-law, Queen Rania of Jordan, dazzled in a pearl-encrusted blush gown also crafted by Saab for the evening reception.

Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi created a stone-coloured dress for her daughter, Princess Iman bint Abdullah. The Ashi Studio piece featured playful flare split-sleeves and a textured bodice pairing harmoniously with a clutch by Lebanese label Sarah’s Bag.

All the way from the United States, first lady Jill Biden donned a mauve Reem Acra gown, and from the other side of the Atlantic, Princess of Wales Kate Middleton opted for a high-necked blush dress featuring eye-catching lacework, confirming Elie Saab as the wedding’s most sought-after designer.
