SELECTS: Egyptian Stylist Nour Taha Dresses for the Mood
Egyptian stylist Nour Taha breaks down four looks spanning girls’ night, date night, yoga and everyday dressing, with vintage pieces and unexpected combinations throughout.
From vintage leopard heels and unexpected colour clashes to dressing up her yoga uniform, Egyptian stylist, creator and yoga teacher Nour Taha approaches getting dressed as an exercise in self-expression.
“What I put on in the morning decides how I move and how much space I take up,” she tells SceneStyled. It is a philosophy that feels particularly fitting for someone whose work moves between styling, content creation, yoga and Nouri’s Circle, the community platform she founded for women around conversation, movement and gathering. Across each, self-expression seems to be the common thread.
“Fashion is not something I do on the side, it’s the actual day,” she says. “I don’t think that’s shallow. It’s one of very few things you get to decide before anything else happens to you.”
“Mood, rather than a particular aesthetic, is usually where she starts. “I can wake up wanting to feel very feminine and put together, and the next day I want something oversized and effortless,” she says.”
She is particularly drawn to the visual language of the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s, but has little interest in recreating any of those eras literally. “I like taking small elements and making them feel like me.”
Look One | Girls Night
“All black isn’t the safe choice, there’s fringe at the neck, satin on the bottom, boots with holes cut into them. Four textures in one colour. And the green bag has no business being in that outfit, which is the whole reason it’s there.”
Black Fringe-Collar Top | Vintage From Italy
Black Satin Wide-Leg Trousers | Bazic
Green Beaded Bag | Ruta Market Ibiza
Black Cut-Out Boots | Kekko Ibiza
Look Two | Date Night
“I love when something is slightly unexpected, and vintage leopard D&G has so much personality. Without them the look felt too safe, everything was behaving.”
Cream Sheer Corset Blouse | Zara
Black Leather Asymmetric Midi Skirt | Keta Gutman
Leopard Heels | Vintage Dolce & Gabbana
Black Woven Clutch | Bottega Veneta
Gold Pendant Necklace | Shoosh
Look Three | Yoga
“The layer has to be the loudest thing in the outfit. If you add something plain over activewear it still looks like activewear with a jacket on.”
Long Red and White Knit Cardigan | Serpil
Pink Tank | Stg
Pink Leggings | Stg
Yellow Shoulder Bag | Anchuva
Flat Sandals | Zara
Look Four | On the Go
“Effortless doesn’t mean you made no decisions, it means you made one and then stopped. If nothing in the outfit was chosen, it reads as tired. If everything was chosen, it reads as trying. You want exactly one thing in there that someone could tell you picked on purpose.”
Black Tank | Free People
Striped Linen Trousers | Bazic
Black Flip Flops | Chanel
Black Shoulder Bag | Okhtein
Beaded Necklace | Ruta Market Ibiza
Gold Bangles | Zara
