As the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival took off with its inaugural screening of French comedy film ‘The Second Act’, Arab designers once more stole the spotlight. Donned by Arab celebrities and international icons alike, these veteran red carpet courtiers stunned on the festival’s opening night.

Can we just appreciate how stunning Fonda looks here for a second? Stealing the show in a black Elie Saab jumpsuit with floral appliques adorning the waist, Grace & Frankie star, Jane Fonda, paired the look with a leopard print coat, silver accessories, and a bold red lip.

Youssra in Tony Ward

Shimmering in silver and gold, Egyptian actress Youssra made quite the entrance in a custom gown designed by Lebanon’s own Tony Ward.

Raya Abirached in Georges Chakra

A vision in red, celebrity presenter Raya Abirached donned a strapless gown with a thigh-high slit by Beirut-based Lebanese courtier Georges Chakra.

Shanina Shaik in Zuhair Murad

It seems as though red is a popular choice this year, with Australian model of Saudi descent, Shanina Shaik, looking regal in a deep red strapless gown by the internationally acclaimed Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad.

Farhana Bodi in Atelier Zuhra

The Dubai Bling star is no stranger to Omani-born and Dubai-based Atelier Zuhra’s creations. Incredibly structured, the gown looks every bit the art piece that it undoubtedly is.

Heidi Klum in Saiid Kobeisy

For the festival’s opening ceremony, the German-American supermodel of the world (sorry, Rupaul) opted for a fiery and billowy scarlet gown by eponymous Lebanese fashion house, Saiid Kobeisy.

Opting for a pastel pink jumpsuit and kaftan from Syrian designer Rami Al Ali’s repertoire, Dubai TV host Diala Makki embraced her Arabic heritage on the red carpet.
