Citadel Festival for Music & Singing Celebrates With 42 Star Concerts
Including the likes of Massar Egbari, Hisham Abbas and Nesma Mahgoub over 15 days, the 30th edition of the Citadel Festival for Music & Singing is set to be bigger than ever.
Now running for 30 years, the Citadel Festival for Music and Singing is a spectacular showcase of regional and global acts taking place at one of the most iconic monuments in Cairo. This year is set to be bigger and more memorable than ever with over 42 superstars taking to the stage, including the likes of Massar Egbari, Hisham Abbas and Nesma Mahgoub.
This year’s edition of the festival will honour nine people who contributed to the enrichment of Egypt’s arts and culture scene. These figures include the late Maestro Kamal Hilal, the General Director for the Technical Office of Music, Opera and Ballet, Howaida Eid; and lyrical poet Ibrahim Abd el Fattah.
This round of the festival-for the first time in its history-will run for 15 consecutive days, from August 17th until August 31st.
The festivities start every day at 8 PM, with two performances a night. The ‘Anamel Saghira’ Children's Orchestra will kick things off, followed by singer Medhat Saleh who will be accompanied by the Amr Selim Musical band.
This year, the festival is focusing on enriching people’s cultural awareness, which is why ticket prices are now EGP 20, available at the Citadel’s ticket office everyday at 5 pm.
To minimise crowding inside the Citadel, the festival will be providing shuttle buses to take the attendees to the stage area from the gate.
