Sixth Edition of El Gouna Film Festival Postponed Indefinitely
This decision to reschedule the festival initially came in response to the ongoing attacks on Gaza, Palestine.
The sixth edition of the El Gouna Film Festival, initially scheduled for October 13th to 20th and later postponed to October 27th to November 2nd, has now been officially postponed indefinitely. This decision to reschedule the festival initially came in response to the ongoing attacks on Gaza, Palestine.
In a statement published on October 10th, the film festival cited its mission of promoting empathy and peace across the region, in line with its theme 'Cinema for Humanity.' The festival's statement, published today, mentioned, ‘A charitable amount of LE 5 Million has been donated to support the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, in partnership with the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development and the Egyptian Red Crescent Society’.
The festival further justified the postponement ‘in consideration of the tragic events in Gaza. [...] The GFF management aspires for the resumption of the 6th edition when the situation stabilises in the Palestinian lands.’
