17 Smart Cities to Be Built Across Egypt
The new cities will feature more efficient urban transportation networks, environmentally-friendly housing and green public spaces all supported by cutting-edge technology and digital solutions.
Embracing a more sustainable and tech-driven future, Egypt is constructing 17 fourth generation ‘smart cities’, emulating much of the digital integration found in the New Administrative Capital.
Although automation and modernity are at the core of these new cities, the driving force behind these state megaprojects is the need to meet the rising demand for residential housing and sustainable urban development to accommodate its ever-growing population.
The new cities will be developed in Greater Cairo, the Sinai Peninsula, the Nile Delta, Upper Egypt, North Coast and along the Suez Canal, and will feature more efficient urban transportation networks, environmentally-friendly housing and green public spaces all supported by cutting-edge technology and digital solutions. This massive development plan looks to double Egypt’s inhabited land from 7% to 14% by 2030.
