30 Million Pilgrims Performed Umrah During Ramadan 2024
More than two thirds of the month’s Umrah pilgrims visited during the last 10 days of Ramadan.
30 million people performed Umrah pilgrimage during the holy month of Ramadan this year, as pilgrims from around the world headed to the most sacred sites in Islam, in Makkah and Madinah. Within the first two weeks of Ramadan, over eight million international visitors arrived in Saudi Arabia from overseas to perform Umrah, according to figures from the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, which also announced the total 30 million figure for the entire month. The rate of visitors arriving to perform Umrah during Ramadan surged over the last 10 days of the month, as pilgrims prefer to visit during the later stages of the month, enjoying Ramadan’s Laylat Al Qadr in Makkah or Madinah in addition to their Umrah pilgrimage. This is evident in this year’s figures too, with over two thirds of Umrah pilgrims visiting in the last 10 days of the holy month of Ramadan.
