Egypt’s Council of Ministers has released a report outlining new urban planning and construction requirements. In other words, Egypt is getting more uniform buildings with higher standards, while eliminating the phenomenon of random, unregulated construction that has overrun the country’s urban landscape.
The new system of planning will set a comprehensive system for providing licensing services in a simple and accessible manner in numerous governorates. The trial operation for this system already began on May 1st, 2021, and will continue for two months in 27 districts and cities across Egypt.
The trial operation will apply to a handful of cities and districts, including Heliopolis, the southern district of Giza, Qaha in Qalyubia, Matrouh, al-Montazah in Alexandria, and El-Arish in North Sinai.
