Egypt to Spend EGP 132 Billion to Modernise National Railway
The Ministry of Transportation aims to have the railway system fully upgraded and modernised by 2024.

In light of the tragic railway accidents that occurred over the past month in Sohag and Dakahlia, the Ministry of Transportation has allocated EGP 132 billion to modernise the railway system. Egypt has seen the completion of over 170 railway projects with 153 more upgrade projects in the near future.
The Ministry of Transportation aims to have the railway system fully upgraded and modernised by 2024 at a total cost of EGP 225 billion according to Transportation Minister Kamel Elwazir.
