Elite Hospital in Alexandria to Launch Advanced Stroke Care Centre
Over 200,000 cases of stroke occur annually in Egypt, and is considered the third highest cause of death in the country, as well as the leading cause of disability.
Elite Hospital in Alexandria has entered a partnership with Medtronic, a medical device company based in the United States, to establish the region's premier centre for advanced stroke care. This centre will be equipped with cutting edge tools and clinical teams, and will treat advanced cases of stroke in Alexandria and neighbouring cities.
"This partnership with Medtronic to improve stroke care in Egypt and address the growing burden of stroke could not come at a more critical time," Dr. Sherif Zidan, CEO of Elite Hospital, said. "Only one percent of stroke cases receive timely care in Egypt. However, through our easily accessible state-of-the-art facility, we are able to respond and serve patients across many areas, not just Alexandria, which will be vital as time is so crucial when it comes to stroke."
Over 200,000 cases of stroke occur annually in Egypt, and is considered the third highest cause of death in the country, as well as the leading cause of disability. Through this new centre, Elite Hospital and Medtronic hope to provide quick access to over 15 million inhabitants in the area
