Photo of the Week: Osama Bedaiwi

Jeddah-based photographer Osama Bedaiwi’s work captures everyday life. He specialises in editorial, documentary and street photography, with a focus on mood, texture and human presence. For the first iteration of our latest series, Photo of the Week, Bedaiwi selected an image he took on the road in Jeddah, his hometown, of the shadow of people on their way home at the end of the day, barely visible through the stickered back window of a bus.

Why did you choose this image?

“This image represents the kind of photography I’m most drawn to: subtle, layered, and emotionally quiet. The composition feels balanced, and the combination of Saudi symbols on the window, worn-out textures, and vulnerable human presence tells a story without needing anything dramatic.”

What’s the story behind the photo? When & where was it taken?

“I took this photo on a normal day in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in a moment that felt honest and unfiltered. The worker leaning forward created a feeling of fatigue and stillness - a small glimpse into everyday life.”
