Population of Cairo Hits 10 Million
In just nine months and five days, Egypt's population has risen by one million people, with an average increase of 3,636 people per day between October 2020 and July 2021.
According to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), Cairo's population has pushed past the 10 million mark, as part of an unprecedented population boom that affects the country as a whole. In just nine months and five days, Egypt's population has risen by one million people, with an average increase of 3,636 people per day between October 2020 and July 2021, from 101 million people to 102 million people.
The population of Egypt is expected to reach 119.8 million by 2030 - the equivalent of the populations of 15 European nations.
CAPMAS's figures also show that the governorate of Giza has reached 9 million people, while there are now more than 7 million people in Sharqia.
