Artist Spotlight: Mahmoud Radaideh (Jadal)

Arguably one of the most pivotal alternative acts to come out of Jordan, Jadal has been at the centre of Arabic indie music ever since the band’s inception in 2003.

The band’s debut album ‘Arabic Rocks’, released in 2009, still stands as one of the most fundamental indie albums to come out of the Jordanian and regional scenes. Their following LPs - including ‘El Makina’ and ‘Malyoun’ - have taken the band to greater heights, turning them into a driving force in the Arabic alternative rock movement.

In this interview, band leader and founding member of Jadal, Mahmoud Radaideh, sits down with SceneNoise’s Heba Radi to walk us through the band’s journey through the years, and how he looks back at the success they have accomplished along the way.

Radaideh also talks about some of the band’s biggest hits, such as ‘Salma’, ‘El-Daraweesh’, ‘Ashrar’, and their latest release, ‘Fattaht’.
