‘All Eyes on Her’ Wins Community Engagement Award in London

‘All Eyes on Her’, a community-led heritage programme at the Horniman Museum and Gardens, received the Community Engagement Programme of the Year award at the Museums + Heritage Awards at the London Hilton on Park Lane.

The programme was developed in partnership with Egyptian women, artists, educators, cultural workers, social initiatives, feminist networks, diaspora collectives, and community organisations across Egypt and the UK, alongside collaborators at the Horniman Museum and University College London.

The initiative brought together more than 250 Egyptian and diaspora community members to address the disconnect between Egyptian collections held in UK museums and contemporary Egyptian communities.

The project repositioned Egyptian women as authors, cultural workers, and stewards involved directly in the interpretation and future presentation of Egyptian heritage, rather than as external consultees or audiences.

The exhibit remains on view at the Horniman Museum.
