Cezanne & Van Gogh Masterpieces on Show at Abu Dhabi Abu Louvre
The exhibition, ‘Post-Impressionism: Beyond Appearances’, traces the history of the movement through its seminal artists.
Masterpieces by Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Paul Gauguin are among the highlights of the Abu Dhabi Louvre's latest exhibition, ‘Post-Impressionism: Beyond Appearances’, with many of their works being displayed in the region for the first time.
Running until February 9th, 2025, the exhibition traces the rise and development of the Post-Impressionist movement from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. The showcase is organised in collaboration with the Musée d’Orsay and France Museums.
The exhibition also features two notable paintings by the Egyptian Post-Impressionist Georges Hanna Sabbagh, who studied alongside Modigliani in Paris: ‘The Artist and His Family at the Church of La Clarté’ and ‘The Family: The Sabbaghs in Paris’. These works, on loan from the Musée de Grenoble in France, are displayed alongside the artist's actual palette.
