Egypt’s First Metro Book Fair Opens at Opera Station
According to the Ministry of Culture, the book fair continues a cooperation track that has brought cultural programming into Egypt’s transport network.

The Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, will host Egypt’s first-ever book fair inside a metro station, taking place at Opera Station from October 5th to 7th, 2025. The event forms part of the Ministry of Culture’s programme marking the anniversary of the October Victory. Supported by Kamel El Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, the initiative aims to promote awareness of Egyptian history and strengthen cultural engagement among metro commuters. According to the ministry, the book fair continues a cooperation track that has brought cultural programming into Egypt’s transport network. Previous collaborations included screenings on metro and high-speed rail displays. Participants include the Egyptian General Book Organisation, the Supreme Council of Culture, the Academy of Arts, the National Centre for Translation, the General Authority for Cultural Palaces, and the National Centre for Child Culture.
