Egyptian Films to Watch Out for During Eid 2025

As the curtain begins to close on Ramadan’s nightly TV marathons and the streets prepare for the chaos of Eid Al Fitr, one tradition remains as anticipated as Kahk and family visits: the return to cinemas. Eid in Egypt isn’t just a celebration—it’s a box office battleground, where the year’s most talked-about comedies, thrillers, and romantic escapades all land at once. From a musical reinvention by Tamer Hosny to high school hijinks and coastal misadventures, here’s what to look out for on the big screen this year…

Nogoum al-Sahel (2025)

Directed by Raouf al-Sayid and written by Karim Youssef and Mohamed Galal, Nogoum al-Sahel is a youth-centred comedy starring Ahmed Dash, Mayan al-Sayid, Ali Sobhy, Ahmed Abdel-Hamid, Malek Emad, and Tamima Hafiz. Egyptian rapper Flex also makes his film debut in this ensemble production.

Set along Egypt's coasts, ‘Nogoum al-Sahel’ follows a group of young friends navigating personal and professional challenges. The film delves into themes of ambition, friendship, and the complexities of modern life, all presented with a comedic twist.


Siko Siko (2025)

Starring rising talents Taha Desouky and Essam Omar, ‘Siko Siko’ cast also features Bassem Samra, Khaled el-Sawy, Tara Emad, Diana Hesham, Mahmoud Sadek Hadouta, and Ahmed Abdel-Hamid. The film is directed by Omar al-Mohandes and written by Mohamed al-Dabah.

‘Siko Siko’ is a comedy-thriller that tells the story of two friends who find themselves entangled in a series of unexpected events. Their journey is filled with humour and suspense as they navigate the seemingly endless consequences of their actions.

Restart (2025) 

Tamer Hosny returns to the big screen with ‘Restart’, a comedy directed by Sarah Wafik and written by Ayman Bahgat Qamar. The film reunites Hosny with Hana al-Zahed following their previous collaboration in ‘Bahebak’. Mohamed Tharwat, Bassem Samra, Mimi Gamal, and Mohamed Essam El Saka also feature.

In ‘Restart’, a renowned musician faces a career crisis and decides to reinvent himself. The film explores his attempts to adapt to the changing music industry, highlighting the challenges and humour in starting over.


Al-Safa Thanawia Banat (2025) 


Ali Rabie stars in ‘Al-Safa Thanaweya Banat’, a romantic comedy written by Amin Gamal and Walid Abo El-Magd, and directed by Amr Salah. The cast includes Mohamed Tharwat, Os Os, Bayoumi Fouad, and Sarah al-Shamy.

‘Al-Safa Thanaweya Banat’ is a romantic comedy centred around a high school for girls. The narrative focuses on the students' lives, their friendships, romantic entanglements, and the comedic situations that arise during their final year.
