Gaza Author Plestia Alaqad Hosts Book Signing at Diwan on April 18th
Plestia Alaqad marks one year of her memoir 'The Eyes of Gaza' with a book signing and talk at the Diwan Bookstore in Heliopolis on April 18th.
Palestinian author and journalist Plestia Alaqad is commemorating the one year anniversary of her memoir ‘The Eyes of Gaza: A Diary of Resilience’ at Diwan Bookstore in Heliopolis this Saturday, April 18th, at 6 PM. The book signing and discussion will be moderated by CairoScene journalist Laila Shadid.
A New York Times bestseller, ‘The Eyes of Gaza’ is a collection of Plestia’s diary entries from her time reporting on the ground in Gaza after October 7th. A fresh university graduate, at 22 years old Plestia was thrust into the spotlight when her coverage of Gaza went viral.
In her memoir, Plestia captures the lived reality of Gaza as she moves between devastated neighbourhoods and overwhelmed hospitals. Amid the destruction, she bears witness to both profound loss and the enduring courage and solidarity of her people. She wonders if her journal might be discovered in the rubble one day.
