Noor Riyadh Breaks Two More Guinness World Records Reaching 16 Total
This year’s light show featured over 60 artworks by artists from 18 countries, turning Riyadh into an open-air gallery.
The Noor Riyadh light festival has achieved two new Guinness World Records, raising its total to 16 record-breaking feats.
UK artist Chris Levine’s ‘Higher Power’ set the record for the Longest Distance Covered by a Laser Light in a Laser Show. Projected from the 267-metre Al-Faisaliah Tower, the 1 kW laser spanned Riyadh’s skyline, encoding “Salaam” (“peace” in Arabic) in Morse code. Levine, known for blending light and sound, has exhibited globally, including at MoMA in New York City.
Saudi artist Rashed Al-Shashai’s ‘The Fifth Pyramid’ claimed the Largest Illuminated Recyclable Material Sculpture title. The 28-metre-high pyramid, built from eco-friendly materials like scaffolding and shipping pallets, featured a fuchsia-lit central walkway symbolizing Saudi Arabia’s creative transformation.
Curated by Effat Abdullah Fadag and Alfredo Cramerotti, this year’s edition ran from November 28th to December 14th across three hubs: King Abdulaziz Historical Center, JAX District, and Wadi Hanifah. Over 60 artworks by artists from 18 countries turned Riyadh into a dazzling open-air gallery, drawing millions of visitors.
