Saudi-based photographer and creative director Mahmoud Hiepo is deeply inspired by film. In his photography, Hiepo traces elements of cinema, using emotion-driven visuals that border on a romantic haze. His images feel like they exist outside the linearity of time, with soft lighting and a powerful human connection with his subjects that extends beyond the camera.

Q: Why did you choose this image?

A: To me, it represents freedom, movement, energy, and human connection. Photography, to me, is not always about showing everything clearly — sometimes it’s about capturing a feeling and a moment in motion.

Q: When and where was it taken?

A: This image was taken during the International Marathon Day celebrations, where I experimented with movement, natural light, and cinematic motion inspired by film photography.
