Eid Al Adha to Begin on May 27th in UAE

Eid al-Adha will begin on May 27th in the United Arab Emirates following the sighting of the Dhu Al Hijjah crescent moon on Sunday, May 17th, 2026. Officials confirmed that Monday, May 18th, marks the first day of Dhu Al Hijjah after reports from moon-sighting committees, specialists, and observatories operating under the country’s coordinated observation system verified the crescent sighting.
With the Islamic month officially established, the Day of Arafah will fall on May 26th, followed by Eid Al Adha celebrations beginning the next day. Federal government holiday dates linked to the Eid period have also been confirmed, with public sector employees scheduled to resume work on Monday, June 1st, 2026.
Private sector holiday dates have not yet been formally announced, with workers awaiting official confirmation regarding the Eid break period. Separately, private educational institutions in Dubai will observe the Eid Al Adha holiday from Monday, May 25th, to Friday, May 29th, under the emirate’s unified academic calendar.
Classes are scheduled to resume on Monday, June 1st.
