SAMoCA Exhibit ‘A Night of a Lifetime’ Unpacks the Saudi Wedding Night
This exhibition at SAMoCA tells us everything we don't about the Saudi wedding night. The before and after—the anticipation and downfall.
What don’t we know about the Saudi wedding night?
‘A Night of a Lifetime’ is taking over SAMoCA—Saudi’s Museum of Contemporary Art—across two galleries that split the highly anticipated wedding night into the ‘before’, and the ‘after’.
The ‘before’ sparkles with anticipation and preparation, glitz and glamour. It is a walk through the Saudi wedding rituals that are for the women only.
The ‘after’ paints a different picture of this holy union—the darker side. It is a provocative commentary on all that comes after your wedding night, like death, divorce, and the reckoning with an arranged marriage.
The exhibition features the work of over 30 artists from Saudi, the Arab world, and international community and will remain on display until April 18th in Riyadh's JAX District.
