Salma Abu Deif Honoured With Award at 77th Cannes Film Festival
Abu Deif was the recipient of an award during the Women in Cinema initiative, alongside five other leading women.
Prominent Egyptian movie star Salma Abu Deif was celebrated at the 77th Cannes Film Festival during the Women in Cinema initiative, hosted by the Red Sea International Film Festival and Vanity Fair Europe. The event honoured six leading women in entertainment, including Abu Deif, director Ramata-Toulaye Sy, Saudi actress Adhwa Fahad, Saudi singer and actress Aseel Omran, Indian actress Kiara Advani, and Thai actress and singer Sarocha Chankimha (aka Freen).
Abu Deif participated in a panel discussion where she shared her journey in the entertainment industry, highlighting her 2017 cinematic debut in ‘Sheikh Jackson’ and her role in the acclaimed 2024 Ramadan drama ‘A’la Nesbet Moshahda’. She also spoke about her recent role in the series ‘Ela El Talaaq’ alongside Eyad Nassar and Dina El Sherbiny. Her portrayal of Malak Shehab in ‘Byn Al Sutoor’, which garnered significant attention on social media, further solidified her star status. The series, starring Saba Mubarak and Ahmed Fahmy, is written by Mariam Naoum and directed by Wael Farag.
