Saudi Director Hind Alfahhad Joins Jury for Horizons of Arab Cinema
Hind Alfahhad, a trailblazer in Saudi cinema, joins the Cairo International Film Festival jury along with Italian producer Enza Porcelli and Egyptian composer Tamer Karawan to assess films.
The 45th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival has announced the inclusion of Saudi director and producer Hind Alfahhad as a jury member for the Horizons of Arab Cinema competition. Alfahhad, along with Italian producer Enzo Porcelli and Egyptian composer Tamer Karawan, will assess a diverse range of films submitted to this prestigious category.
“I am very excited to join the jury for the Horizons of Arab Cinema competition, collaborating with prominent figures in the global and Arab film industry,” Alfahhad said. “The festival's selection of films is rich and diverse, and I anticipate that our task of choosing the winners will be both challenging and enjoyable.”
Alfahhad, who has been a pivotal figure in the Saudi film scene, serves on the board of the Saudi Cinema Association and is a member of the Saudi Film Association. Her film career began in 2011 with her short film ‘Three Brides Then A Kite’, which was featured at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival. Since then, she has produced several notable works, including ‘Peddlers’, which won the Gulf Short Jury Prize at the Dubai International Film Festival in 2015.
In 2021, her short film ‘The Last Date Palm’ was part of the feature-length film ‘Becoming’, showcased at both the Cairo International Film Festival and the Red Sea International Film Festival. Currently, Alfahhad is preparing to shoot her first feature film.
Her experience extends to television, where she has worked in writing and content development at MBC Group and directed productions like ‘Without Filter 2’ and ‘Anakeed’.
