Step Inside Mariem Akmal's 'Visual Diaries' Exhibit at Samak Laban
The young Cairo-based artist gives CairoScene a tour of her intimate second solo exhibition, 'Visual Diaries'.
At the opening of her latest solo exhibition, 'Visual Diaries', at Samak Laban Creative Studio in Downtown Cairo, artist Mariem Akmal spoke to CairoScene about what this intimate exhibition represents, and how the collaboration with Samak Laban came to be.
With 16 works across a wide array of mediums encompassing oil, acrylics, pastels, spray paint and glass, the artist distills onto the canvas emotional snapshots of the past four years of her life, which saw her graduate from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Zamalek and become one of Egypt's fastest rising young artists.
'Visual Diaries' is on display until May 25th, 2026.
