Cairo Studio Samak Laban Gives Brown Nose Coffee’s Mascot a Seat

Cairo-based creative studio and furniture showroom Samak Laban has designed a new chair for Brown Nose Coffee, the specialty coffee roaster and cafe that has been serving drinks across Egypt since 2019, based on its distinctively olfactory mascot, Mr. Mots.

Seen from the side, the character’s silhouette forms the back of the chair, with its arms extending outward to become the armrests. The result is a broad, chunky seat with a solid, almost cartoon-like presence, turning Brown Nose’s familiar character into something you can actually sit in.

Mr. Mots was created by designer and creative director Omar Mobarek, whose graphic work and creative direction have been in Samak Laban’s visual orbit for some time. That connection made Brown Nose an obvious choice for an early collaboration.
