'The Swimmers' Starring Ahmed Malek to Open Toronto Intl Film Festival
The film follows the historic journey of swimmers Yusra and Sarah Mardini as they escaped the war in Syria as refugees and participated in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
‘The Swimmers’, a new drama by Welsh-Egyptian director Sally El Hosaini that follows the historic journey of Syrian swimmers Yusra and Sarah Mardini as they escaped the war as refugees and participated in the 2016 Rio Olympics, will open the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 8th.
The start studded cast includes Egyptian actor Ahmed Malek, Palestinian actor Ali Suleiman, Syrian star Kinda Alloush. Meanwhile the heroic sister-duo is played by Lebanese sisters Manal and Nathalie Eissa. The film is set to be globally released on Netflix later this year.
