Tired of the City? These Farms Are the Reset You Need

If the city’s pace has worn you down—between gridlocked traffic, packed cafés, and weekends that feel more exhausting than restful—it might be time for a different kind of break. Not a quick coffee run or a crowded mall stroll, but an actual reset. One with trees, open skies, and the kind of quiet that’s hard to come by in Cairo.

Across the countryside, a handful of local farms are offering just that: calm, open spaces where you can trade in the noise for something slower and far more grounding. No alarms, no double parking, just fresh air and maybe a few goats…

Hazel Farm

📍 80 KM Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road, Natrn Valley, Giza Governorate

🕒 Open daily, 10 AM to 6 PM

Just off the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road, Hazel Farm brings a blend of agritourism and floral calm. Visitors can walk through fruit and vegetable plots, pick seasonal produce, and take in the greenery. Floral paths and seasonal blooms round out the atmosphere—but don’t forget to book ahead.

Sabe7 Farm

📍 Orabi, Gamaiet Ahmed Orabi, Obour, Cairo Governorate

🕒 Open 10 AM to 11:30 PM

Sabe7 Farm is known for its made-to-order meals using produce picked straight from the garden. Their fresh breakfasts and lunches highlight seasonal ingredients grown on-site, creating a slow food experience you can see and taste. Visits are curated and require advance booking.

Wiiwii’s Farm

📍 Kilo 58, Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road, Gamayet El Moaatamdia

🕒 Open 9 AM to 9 PM

This organic farm is best known for its olive oil, but it’s also a laid-back destination for picnics or camping. With shaded spots, natural views, and a focus on simple living, Wiiwii’s is an ideal place to disconnect. As with the others, prebooking is essential.

Shagie Farm

📍 El-Karnak District, KM 15, Ismailia–Suez Desert Road, Ismailia

🕒 Open 9 AM to 9 PM

Founded in 1985, Shagie Farm helped put “mango tourism” on the map in Egypt. Visitors can pick their own mangoes, take part in the Ismailia Mango Festival, and explore the farm’s horses, greenery, and family-friendly activities. Homemade feteer is a staple offering during visits.

Al Sorat Farm

📍 Sakkara Road, Abu Sir, Giza Governorate

🕒 Hours vary; contact farm in advance

Al Sorat offers a more interactive day out, especially for kids. The farm is home to rescue horses, goats, donkeys, cows, and even a water buffalo. There’s space to explore, sand to dig through, and pools to cool off in. Bring your own lunch or contact the farm to arrange a meal.
