Dynamic Nile Water Management System Used to Meet Rising Demand
Officials reviewed Lake Nasser levels and dam operations as satellite data and models shape decisions.
A dynamic system based on real-time monitoring and hydrological forecasting is being used to manage Nile water resources in Egypt, as demand increases during peak periods.
According to the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, the approach was outlined by Hani Sewilam during a meeting of the permanent committee responsible for regulating Nile inflows.
The system relies on advanced modelling tools and satellite imagery to track conditions across the upper Nile basin, enabling more responsive and efficient water management. Officials also reviewed water levels at Lake Nasser, alongside dam operations and the overall performance of the national water system.
The ministry said precautionary measures were introduced in response to recent rainfall and flooding, based on weather forecasts and continuous monitoring.
