Saudia & Saudi Arabia Railways Link Air & Rail Booking Systems

Saudia and Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) have integrated their digital platforms to enable single-trip booking and combined boarding passes across air travel and the Haramain High Speed Railway.

The system links Saudia’s reservation infrastructure with SAR’s ticketing platform to produce unified itineraries across routes connecting King Abdulaziz International Airport, Makkah and Madinah.

The agreement was formalised during the Umrah and Ziyarah Forum 2026 in Madinah and is designed to reduce transfer time between aviation and rail segments.

Under the integrated system, passengers receive boarding documentation for both flight and rail travel within a single transaction, eliminating the need for separate bookings. The platform also enables coordination between flight arrivals and train departures, reducing waiting times at interchange points.

The Haramain High Speed Railway operates at speeds of up to 300 km/h across five stations, including a terminal at King Abdulaziz International Airport, providing direct rail access to the holy cities.

Officials said the integration builds on earlier joint initiatives, including bundled rail fares between Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah, with the latest phase focused on deeper system connectivity.

The model is expected to increase rail usage on airport-linked routes while extending airline connectivity beyond flight destinations. It also supports broader efforts to improve multimodal transport integration and reduce transfer friction across Saudi Arabia’s mobility network.
