The UK’s Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra Makes Its Egypt Debut
Led by British maestro Stephen Bell, the RPCO will perform an extensive line-up of lively cappricios & cinematic soundtracks.
On November 15th and 16th, at the Grand Egyptian Museum, an unparalleled performance of classical music as well as popular film soundtracks will be orchestrated by the United Kingdom’s Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra (RPCO) for the first time in Egypt.
Under the official sponsorship of King Charles the Third, the RPCO is known for their annual performances of global soundtracks at the world’s biggest musical venues. At their skilled hands, cinema fanatics across the globe have gotten the chance to listen to masterly renditions of their favourite film soundtracks, from ‘Home Alone’ to ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ to ‘Gladiator’. Hans Zimmer’s ‘Interstellar’ soundtrack, which won him the Saturn award for best music and nominated him for many others, is played live by the concert orchestra, crafting a notoriously unforgettable experience. The RPCO’s landing in the historical embrace of the GEM in Cairo, hosted by Arabesque International in cooperation with the British Embassy in Egypt and the British Egyptian Business Association, means Egyptian fans can finally enjoy this experience, too. Led by British maestro Stephen Bell, who was described by International Record Review as “one of the most gifted younger British conductors,” the RPCO will also perform a line-up of lively cappricios by the likes of Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov. The concert orchestra will then be joined by Egyptian international award-winning musicians Amira and Mariam Abozahra, granddaughters of the brilliant Abdelrahman Abozahra. The two sisters have garnered a slew of awards over the course of their careers, including Amira’s Fritz Kreisler in Vienna, and Mariam’s ‘Nutcracker’ award for young musicians in Russia.
