Tyson Fury & Oleksandr Usyk Will Clash at Riyadh’s 'Ring of Fire'
Postponed due to an eye injury sustained by Fury, May’s event is set to be Saudi Arabia’s biggest ever boxing event, following Fury vs Ngannou in October 2023.
Get those gloves up; Riyadh’s ‘Ring of Fire’ event is returning to the Kingdom Arena in May 2024 for Riyadh Season, with a huge main event fight between prolific boxers Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
The event was originally scheduled for February 17th, but following a ‘freak cut’ above the eye sustained by Fury in a sparring session, the fight has been postponed by three months. This event is long in the making, with many people surely imagining Rocky-style montages over and over in their heads since it was announced on September 29th 2023.
The reason for much of the apprehension, ahead of what will be Saudi Arabia’s biggest ever boxing match, lies in the number of belts up for grabs; a record total of four belts will be on the line when the first bell rings on May 18th. Upping the stakes even further, the victor of this bout will be named boxing’s undisputed heavyweight champion - the first time such a title has been granted since British boxer Lennox Lewis claimed it 24 years ago.
Previous ticket holders of the original February date will not have their tickets automatically transferred to the new event, though they will of course receive a full refund. However, the sizable Kingdom Arena, with its 40,000 seat capacity, leaves many with a chance of scoring a ticket. This arena was the venue for the previous Ring of Fire event, which saw Fury beat ex-NFC fighter Francis Ngannou in October 2023.
