WATCH: Director Maram Taibah & Producer Farah Jouni on ‘Malika’

Emerging director and children’s book writer Maram Taibah along with producer Farah Jouni discuss their collaboration on the fantasy short film ‘Malika’ as part of SceneNowSaudi’s Rolling: Red Sea Saudi series. During the conversation, Taibah reflects on the film’s central theme of “the sovereignty of women,” inspired by her personal journey and questions about self-ownership, decision-making, and defining one’s life path.

Funded by Film AlUla and participating in competition at the Red Sea Film Festival, ‘Malika’ follows a rebellious Saudi girl who sneaks away on a magical adventure to retrieve her dying grandmother’s stolen crown from mysterious beasts, only to discover what it truly means to be a queen.
