Egyptian Edtech iSchool Acquires Rubikal to Build AI Infrastructure
Following a three-year partnership, Rubikal’s co-founders take tech leadership roles at iSchool to develop AI-driven tools and platform infrastructure for schools.
iSchool has acquired software engineering firm Rubikal, integrating its full team as part of a shift from education delivery to building AI infrastructure for schools.
The deal brings 21 software engineers and Rubikal’s founding leadership into iSchool. Co-founder Mohamed Ibrahim has been appointed Chief Technology Officer, while co-founder Moustafa Badawy joins as Vice President of Engineering.
The acquisition follows a three-year working relationship in which Rubikal acted as a core engineering partner, supporting the development and scaling of iSchool’s platform. Rubikal has previously delivered engineering work for clients including Discovery Inc, The Walt Disney Company and Vestaboard.
With the integration, iSchool is expanding its focus to include AI-driven learning systems, internal tools and platform infrastructure. The company operates across more than 20 countries and reports over 150,000 graduates, alongside partnerships with government and institutional clients.
The move reflects a broader shift among edtech and startup companies towards bringing engineering capabilities in-house, particularly in areas related to AI and data infrastructure. In regional markets, where startups often rely on outsourced or distributed technical teams, this approach is being used to consolidate product development and strengthen control over core systems.
