10,000 Arta Trees to Be Planted in Al Dahna Sands
Partnering with the Green Dahna Association, 300 volunteers from government and universities will support ecosystem restoration.
The King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority has launched an initiative to plant 10,000 arta trees in the Al Dahna sands as part of efforts to rehabilitate local ecosystems and strengthen environmental stewardship.
The project is being implemented in partnership with the Green Dahna Association and involves 300 volunteers from government agencies and educational institutions.
According to the authority, arta was selected for its high adaptability to harsh desert climates and its ability to stabilise soil. The species is considered suitable for supporting biodiversity and addressing desertification in arid environments.
Maher Al-Gothmi, CEO of the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority, said the collaboration reflects the institutional integration required to meet the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative and Vision 2030.
He added that the programme contributes to ensuring the sustainability of natural resources for future generations through a combination of scientific research and community participation.
