12 Extra Trains Scheduled Across Egypt for Eid Al-Fitr Travel
Egyptian National Railways will add temporary services across key routes during the Eid Al-Fitr holiday period.
Egyptian National Railways will operate additional train services during the Eid Al-Fitr 1447 holiday period to support increased passenger travel across major routes in March 2026.
The temporary schedule, introduced under directives from Mohamed Amer, chairman of Egyptian National Railways, adds extra services alongside existing timetables across several corridors.
Between March 15th and March 29th, additional services will operate on the Cairo–Aswan corridor to increase capacity on routes serving Upper Egypt.
The added services include Talgo train 2040, air-conditioned train 1938, and third-class air-conditioned train 1948. From March 16th, northbound services from Aswan to Cairo will include Talgo train 2041, air-conditioned train 1939, and third-class air-conditioned train 1947.
Starting March 18th, a special air-conditioned train numbered 1950 will also operate between Cairo and Assiut as part of the temporary Eid travel plan. Further services will begin on March 23rd on additional routes across the rail network.
These include train 1941 running between Cairo and Tanta, train 1943 between Cairo and Mansoura, train 1945 VIP between Cairo and Alexandria, and train 1946 VIP between Assiut and Aswan.
As part of the temporary schedule adjustments, three services will be suspended for specific dates before returning to their regular timetables.
Train 999 operating between Sohag and Cairo will not run on March 18th, train 992 between Nagaa Hammadi and Cairo will not run on March 19th, and train 905 between Cairo and Alexandria will also be suspended on March 19th. In addition, Talgo trains 2026 and 2027 on the Cairo–Alexandria route and return journeys will resume operation on March 26th under their standard schedules.
