4.9 Million Iftar Meals Served at Grand Mosque & Prophet’s Mosque
A total of 4,879,682 meals were served, with 8,393 cubic metres of Zamzam water consumed in the first week of Ramadan.

A total of 4,879,682 Iftar meals were distributed to worshippers at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah during the first week of Ramadan, according to the General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques. The consumption of Zamzam water also reached 8,393 cubic metres.
The authority recorded the highest number of Umrah performers in a single day at 500,000, with 196 designated entrances facilitating access, including five main entry gates to ease crowd movement. To enhance the visitor experience, advanced technologies were introduced to monitor crowd flow, and 200 digital screens were installed for wayfinding within the mosques and their courtyards. Additional services included the introduction of pedestrian assistance teams, a trial operation of hair-shaving vehicles for Umrah performers, and the opening of two luggage storage centres with six collection points.
Efforts to maintain cleanliness resulted in the disposal of 1,196 tonnes of waste, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for worshippers. The authority also enabled volunteer organisations to assist with guidance, organisation, and health services. Meanwhile, the ‘First Home’ exhibition in the Third Saudi Expansion Area drew large numbers of visitors, showcasing the history and evolution of the Kaaba’s construction through various artefacts and historical displays.
