70 New Archaeological Sites Added to Saudi Antiquities Register
The sites include two in Riyadh, as well as one in both the Eastern Province and Makkah.
Saudi Arabia’s Heritage Commission has approved the documentation of 70 newly discovered archaeological sites in the Kingdom’s National Antiques Register, bringing the total number of registered archaeological and historical sites to 8,917.
Sites are entered into the register once they have been rigorously inspected, and the relevant scientific and technical reports have been submitted. These newly discovered sites are spread widely throughout the Kingdom, with 14 sites in the southern Asir region, 13 in Al Jouf, 12 in Hail and 11 in Jazan. The finds also include two sites in the Riyadh region, as well as one in both the Eastern Province and Makkah.
