ACWA Power Begins Commercial Operations on 2GW Solar Power Plant

ACWA Power has begun full commercial operations on Al Shuaibah 2, a 2GW solar power plant located 80 km south of Jeddah in the Makkah province.

The launch of commercial operations comes after the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) granted ACWA Power a Commercial Operation Certificate for the first, second and third sections of the project, which have an overall capacity of 2,060 MW.

ACWA is also operating the 600 MW Al Shuaibah 1 solar project, which launched online in November 2024. The total cost of Al Shuaibah 1 and 2 is SAR 9 billion.
