AFC Champions League Games Scheduled in UAE, Qatar, Postponed
AFC Champions League Games Postponed Due to Escalating Regional Tensions
Four Asian Football Confederation matches in the Champions League Elite Round of 16 have been postponed in light of the recent retaliatory attacks from Iran that followed the joint US-Israeli strikes on that country on Saturday, February 28th.
In a statement, the AFC confirmed that first-leg matches in the West Region, originally scheduled for March 2nd and 3rd, 2026, will now be rescheduled.
Additionally, the confederation said other games, including those part of the Champions League Two, which includes Cristiano Ronaldo’s Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr, and the confederation’s Challenge League, are also postponed until further notice.
“Matches involving clubs from the East Region across all of the AFC's club competitions will proceed as originally scheduled,” the governing body’s statement read.
“The AFC will continue to closely monitor this rapidly evolving situation and remains resolute in ensuring the safety and security of all players, teams, officials, and fans.”
