Abu Dhabi Aims for 39 Mln Annual Tourists with Tourism Strategy 2030
The plan will invite more international entertainment events, and streamline the visa process for visitors.
Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism has announced its ‘Tourism Strategy 2030’, with a broad portfolio of expansions and developments in the tourism sector. The strategy aims to increase annual tourism numbers from around 24 million to 39.3 million by 2030, accounting for 7% year-on-year growth.
Tourism Strategy 2030 centres around 26 key initiatives, including cultural sites, theme parks, retails offerings, with the calendar of events also set to be expanded significantly as the region continues to host bigger and more regular entertainment events, bringing with them significant tourism.
The announcement also stated that the visa process for international visitors would be streamlined, simplifying the systems in order to boost the number of visitors to the UAE’s capital.
As well as increasing the number of available hotel rooms, road and public transport infrastructure is also set to be enhanced through the USD 817 million traffic plan, reducing congestion and increasing connectivity to the capital’s islands.
