Abu Dhabi Extends 10% Tourist Tax Waiver Until End of 2024

Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism has extended the waiver for the 10% tourist tax on event tickets in the Emirate, aiming to further encourage growth in the tourism sector. After the end of 2024, event organisers will have to go back to paying the 10% surcharge on all tickets sold.

The constantly packed line-up of events in Abu Dhabi continues to drive international tourism to the Emirate, with the waiver aiming to bolster the events sector, which is integral to its tourism and entertainment ecosystem.

Amongst other incentives put in place by the Department of Culture and Tourism is the reduction of tourism and municipality fees for hotels, as well as recent updates to the holiday homes policy; farmhouse owners can now acquire licences to convert their properties into holiday homes, which are becoming increasingly popular on platforms such as Airbnb.
