The newly inaugurated Burjeel Cancer Institute is offering free consultations and same-day check-ups for drop-in patients. This approach aims to improve early detection and accessibility of treatment.
Officially opened by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, the Burjeel Cancer Institute boasts state-of-the-art facilities spread across four floors. The institute features a dedicated breast cancer unit, private chemotherapy suites, and utilises cutting-edge techniques like targeted therapy, precision medicine, radiation therapy, and artificial intelligence-powered cancer diagnosis. This initiative adds to the UAE's existing network of over 30 cancer centres and clinics.
Early detection remains a key focus, with the Burjeel Cancer Institute being the only centre in the Emirates to offer same-day health checks without appointments. The institute employs a multidisciplinary team approach, with oncologists, surgeons, radiation specialists, and palliative care professionals working together to provide comprehensive treatment plans for patients.
This strategy aligns with global healthcare trends, addressing the rising burden of cancer. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cancer cases are projected to rise by 77% by 2050. In the UAE, breast cancer remains the most common type, followed by colon and thyroid cancers.
