Al-Ahsa Tourism Grows 500% in Five Years to Reach 3.2 Million Visitors

Al-Ahsa recorded over 3.2 million domestic and international visitors in 2024, a 500% increase since 2019. Tourist spending exceeded SAR 3.3 billion, marking a 400% rise over the same period.

Al-Ahsa, located in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, is recognised for its extensive oasis, which includes gardens, canals, springs, wells and historical structures. This unique landscape has been continuously inhabited since the Neolithic period and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2018.

In response to the increasing number of visitors, the hospitality industry in Al-Ahsa experienced a 52% growth in licensed tourism facilities compared to 2023. By the end of 2024, the region offered 2,700 licensed hotel rooms to accommodate tourists.

The Ministry of Tourism has implemented initiatives and incentive programs to encourage investment in Al-Ahsa, resulting in projects totaling SAR 3 billion.
