First Day of Ramadan Confirmed for Wednesday February 18th in UAE
Fasting hours at the start of Ramadan are expected to last just under 13 hours per day, gradually extending to approximately 13 hours and 27 minutes.
The UAE Moon-Sighting Committee has officially confirmed that Ramadan 2026 will begin on Wednesday, February 18th, while the month of Shaaban will conclude after 29 days this year, based on the sighting of the crescent moon.
Fasting hours at the start of Ramadan are expected to last just under 13 hours per day, gradually extending to approximately 13 hours and 27 minutes toward the end of the month as daylight hours increase.
As part of the UAE’s annual Ramadan measures, working hours across public and private sectors will be reduced, with exceptions for essential services. Flexible and remote working arrangements will continue to be available for eligible employees, while schools across Dubai and other emirates are expected to implement shortened schedules to support fasting students and families.
