Al Azhar Establishes Fatwa Department for Hebrew Speakers

The Al-Azhar Global Center for Electronic Fatwa has established a dedicated Hebrew language department to keep pace with regional and international developments. The centre's primary objective is to provide accurate religious and historical insights into the Palestinian cause to Hebrew speakers.

In light of various global challenges and the spread of misleading narratives, the centre’s announcement explains how the department aims to instil strong convictions within Arab communities, promoting the claims of the Palestinian people to their land. It will also work towards shedding light on double standards and media manipulation in the context of the dire humanitarian situation in Palestine.

The centre also intends to enhance the role of religious edicts (fatwas) in countering the threats of Zionism by examining its claims and religious implications, and debunking historical Zionist falsehoods. These efforts will be presented through specialised studies aimed at raising awareness among the younger generation about the risks associated with Zionism.

The department will additionally translate fatwas and statements from the centre on this matter into Hebrew, led by a team of expert Hebrew language professors at Al-Azhar University.
